The safest way to tan is to leave UV rays out of the equation and use a self tanner (also known as sunless tanner). The two most common chemicals in self tanners are dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and Erythrulose, both of which work by reacting with the amino acids on the skin surface. You’ve probably heard (or seen) horror stories of bad self tanning jobs–streaks, orange hands, dark creases–but these steps will help you circumvent such disasters.
