How
Washing your hands is a very important part of staying sickness free. This may seem obvious, but many overlook the easiest way to avoid getting sick.Washing your hands gets rid of harmful germs that can show up on your hands from touching contaminated surfaces, people and animals. If everyone washed their hands more often, we’d all be in better health! Here I’ve given a basic outline how to wash your hands:
- Get your hands wet
- Get a good amount of liquid soap, or use a bar
- Rub your hands together thoroughly for at least 15 to 20 seconds
- Make sure you scrub between your fingers and under your nails, covering all parts of your hand
- Rinse your hands under fresh water
- Dry your hands using a clean paper towel (if a washcloth, be sure to clean often)
- Use that paper towel to dry off your hands, turn off the faucet and if neccessary, open the door, especially in public bathrooms. Think how many people didn’t wash their hands after using the restroom and touched that door handle?
Always wash your hands before preparing food, after using the restroom, when handling animals, and especially if someone in your household is sick, among other things.
