PPS’ and PPOs are generally licensed by the state in which they operate. They are generally licensed as private investigators and/or Security officers. To check credentials, simply contact the state about the particular agency and or individual.

Most, have received on the job training, although many have attended academies which specifically train protection professionals. Of these academies, only a few are of sufficient quality, enough to be considered “the creme of the crop”. This, however, is no discredit to the operator himself, who may have received on the job training of equivalent quality to match or surpass that of most academies.
