Wordpress, out of the box, is horrible in terms of SEO. There are all kinds of duplicate content issues, bad title structure, bad post name structure etc.

A few plugins and some modifications can quickly fix this SEO issue. A few I would recommend would include All In One Meta Tags, and Google Sitemap Generator.

In terms of altering postnames, under Presentation > Permalink Structure, set the link output option to custom, and enter /%postname%/. This will output your URL as the blog post title… a much better idea in terms of SEO. If you do this, be sure to install the Permalink Redirection plugin.
