How to Shine Shoes
Shining your shoes is a great way to look sharp for any occasion.
Start by cleaning the shoes of any mud, dirt or dust, with a damp cloth or shoeshine brush. Then, use a liquid or cream cleaner in the color of your shoe, and take a soft cloth rag to clean the shoe evenly. Take a horsehair brush and brush off the remaining cleaning solution. The last step is actually polishing the shoe, and a Kiwi polish wil give a better shine. Using a small round shoeshining brush (a rag works too), apply the polish. Wait 15 minutes and buff the existing polish off with a clean cotton rag, such as a sock or t-shirt. There you have it, shining shoes!
Tips:
- Do not use a nylon brush, as it may ruin the leather and give a sub-par shine.
- White shoes cannot be shined, only cleaned with the appropriate agent.
- Dark colored shoes are the best to shine.
- The use of the cloth and then the horsehair brush really brings out the shine.
